Tamarindo is a real tourist place and nothing like the places we’ve been to before in Costa Rica. Especially the prices are not at all like Costa Rica. Everything costs more then twice as much an the prices are almost as high as at home. Even though Tamarindo is such a tourist place there are only dirt roads to Tamarindo and no gas station. Yesterday on our way to Punta Islita we had to stop by a gas station first. After the gas station a friendly police officer stopped us because we where going a little faster as it was allowed. This was a totally new experience! First the officer introduced himself and shook our hands. Then he asked us where we’re coming from and where we heading to. After this little chat he told us why he stopped us and didn’t ask if we knew why he stopped us like the do in other countries. After he told us how much we had to pay and we had paid the ticket he started to talk about the last nights champions league games and in the end he described us the way to Punta Islita. It was more like a little chat then receiving a speeding ticket.
Since Punta Islita is in a bay with nothing around it we had to take some more dirt roads. This time we also had to cross two small rivers. As we came to the first one there was a pick up tuck on one side of the river and a minivan stuck inside the river. The minivan had no 4-wheel drive and the rocks where too lose so we had to push him back to the shore. On the second try he made it through the river without a problem. Since we have a 4-wheel driven car it was no problem for us to cross the rivers. Now we are at this place for another two nights. Manly we’ll lay in the sun or sit in the pool. This afternoon my dad and I go kayaking in the mangroves and my mom spends some time at the spa. We’ll enjoy the sun for two more days before we’re going south to Manuel Antonio.

After two nights at Tamarindo we drove yesterday a little further south the coast to Punta Islita. On our full day at Tamarindo we had no planes so I booked a surf lesson since Tamarindo is known as a surfer paradise. The surf wasn’t too high but for a beginner like me it was really hard. At least I made it on to the board a few times. After my lesson I was tired for the rest of the day.
